Moab is a region of seven villages on the outskirts of the city of Madaba containing about 7,000 people. This is a rural area that has no working hospital and no income-producing business. Many of the younger people are leaving the area in order to find a way out of poverty.
The people of this area are very welcoming and traditional. They live a simple life in the hills supporting olive trees and vineyards. Many of the families are into agriculture and livestock raising. There is a large Palestinian refugee camp in this area as well as populations of Syrians, Iraqis and Gypsies.
